TURKEY TIME!

I love turkey time (and no I am not talking about the country, even though I am sure it is nice). I love this time of year. For those who know me, may be shocked to hear that I like food. This year I get to go to my in-laws house.

It is amazing the difference of the families thanksgiving and the similarities.

Similarities:
I will guarantee sometime I will get into a political argument with someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. It doesn't matter which household I am at (my parents, or Lindsey's parents)(RON PAUL 08)

I will eat to much food.

I will have a great time with families.

Differences:

Lindsey's family has the best appetizers, my Mom has the best stuffing. (No offense, no one can beat my Mom's stuffing).

HMMMMMM FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enough worthless talk. Many people might want to know what I believe. I will give you a quick breakdown on the 3 most difficult subjects to talk about.

1. Religion.
I believe the Bible is 100% inerrant. I believe God created the world in 6 literal days, on the 7th he rested. I believe man became so wicked that every thought was on evil. So God destroyed the earth in a world wide flood and saved Noah, his family, and 2 animals of every kind. I believe that Sin has separated us from God, and the only way we could be saved was for God to send his son on earth to live a perfect life and die the perfect sacrifice. I believe the only way to get to heaven is by grace through faith and not of works.

2. Politics
I hold true to most of the Libertarian party believes. I believe in SMALL federal government and passing the legislation on to the State and Local levels. I believe that federal government should be in charge of interstate commerce and military. Other than that it should be passed to the local or state. I do not believe it is there responsibility to take from a private party and give to another private party (welfare).

3. Money.
I believe we have a crises in these United States of America. People are saving at a negative rate. We have been spoiled and think we deserve or am entitled to have materials. This has caused us to go drastically in debt and could be the downfall of our country. To many people are counting on Uncle Sam to take care of them when they get older. There is not get rich quick program that works. There are 3 steps to living well and retiring well.

1. Spend less than you make.
2. Save
3. Say NO to debt.

If you have any questions or comments I would love to expound on them.

Thank you

Uncle Jonny

"My Only Regret"

I had someone tell me that there only regret was starting to smoke. I wish I could say that I had one regret.

Yesterday at church we had missionaries come in and present what God has been doing on the field, the Lankfords. Why I mention this with my regrets is easy. I went to a Christian college after high school (that is when most people go to college). I had two goals when I went there, one to get a degree so I can go into the missions or pastoral field. The second is to find a wife. I found my wife, but I didn't focus on my other goal. I gave in to having fun and not caring about my studies. You see, I have always been able to get through with the bare minimal. In high school I could get good grades and never opened a book. Cutting class in high school was the norm. I was able to pass all the test, so I could get good grades.

The problem was at college I could not do that. The college I attended made class time mandatory, also, I couldn't just go in and take the test if it was something I have never studied or heard of before. You see, I have a gift of learning through what I hear. I can read something and retain a good part of it, but if I hear it I know it. If I wasn't at class, I didn't hear it.

Back to my regret. Listening to the Lankfords give there presentation made my heart break. I still feel as if I missed out on my calling. I went on a short term missions trip before college. I got to go for a couple weeks to Iquitos Peru. I fell in love with the people, the culture, the attitude, and most of all God.

That was the one of the first times I felt like everything was right. It was the feeling that everything is great and going to be great. I knew right then I wanted to serve God in some amazing way. I didn't want to because of how it made me feel. I wanted to, because I then realized that God truly deserves all of our praise in all we do. Not because he gives us eternal life (which he does to those who ask and believe) but because I want to become closer to him.

Even though I messed up that opportunity to become a full time missionary, I realize right now God has me here for a reason. My wife and I are really involved with our local church. In fact we run a youth group that is just like a foreign mission field. We have only 3 kids that have a church background. I love those kids. My hearts desire is to see everyone saved, and then see them not just stop there, but have a desire for themselves to grow and want to serve the master.

I still believe one day, he might call me to go into it again, this time I will be ready.

Thanks

Uncle Jonny

Ahh Sweet Memories

Friday Steve (My Brother) his wife, kids, and my wife all went to eat dinner at my mom's house (awesome chicken). My mom was cleaning out the basement and came across some old pictures of ours.

Remember back in high school when it was cool to pass out your class pictures and write notes on the back. Wow, that was a good time reading all those notes (and yes Jamie B. you still owe me like a 100 pieces of gum). I use to hate writing those pictures, and now I see why. One day, someone is going to find your old picture (laugh at the way you use to look) then laugh at the stupid comment that was on the back. 97 RULEZ. Uhh, the good times when everyone wrote rules with a Z at the end.

It was fun to look back at all the pictures of my old friends, girls I dated, and some that I didn't remember us being friends.

If you get bored today, or feel depressed. Find that old box of pictures from high school, go through it and have a great laugh.

Thank you

Here's Jonny!

I figured it has been over a year since my last post. I figured it is time for me to come out of retirement for all my fans (both of you).

Why did I stop blogging? I don't know exactly. I got busy and then it fell down on my priority list. It didn't help I had dial up. I know someone in the 21st century with dial up. You would have to understand were I live. My only other option was to build a 125 foot tower and cut down a few trees (which I would hate to do - I am a tree hugger). Then I would be 50% sure I could get it wireless through the closest town. Or, I could get satellite internet which I have heard horror stories about (and it is expensive). Finally, a third option came forth. EVDO through Altell. I LOVE E.V.D.O. It is high speed through your cell phone. It is awesome (especially for a person coming from dial up).

So, needless to say, I can now load the blog a lot quicker.

I still want to keep the same format. I want this to be a blog about my world. (uncle Jonny's world). I will be listing my thoughts on many things in life.

Please (to both of my fans) if you read this and have a thought, question, or a just want to hear my opinion. Please let me know. I have no secrets.

Thank you again. I promise to blog soon.

Thank you.
